WTCS Education Certification Requirements: Collaborative Online Delivery Pilot
Project Goals
Provide a collaborative education-certification delivery model that can:
- provide greater flexibility to faculty-learners.
- develop greater number of options from which faculty can choose.
- maximize efficiency in delivery.
- improve the quality of offerings through collaborative efforts, exchanging best practices, and sharing top resources unique to districts.
- model exemplary approaches to online teaching and learning.
Development and Delivery Strategies
A collaborative workgroup led by Sharon Spangberg, state education director, has recommended piloting "two tracks" as a way to facilitate collaboration and meet the above goals:
- Track 1: Market available seats from individual district training courses where and when available.
- Track 2: Develop, market, and implement shared online training options facilitated through eTech--a place where we can congregate and share top teachers/facilitators, course models, and valuable resources throughout our System.
Advantages
- Districts can better maximize existing efforts while being provided a single, shared option they can leverage at their discretion.
- We support both district autonomy and collaborative efforts in ways that provide flexibility and sound fiscal stewardship.
- We provide a hub in which to share the wealth of resources available within the Wisconsin Technical College System.
