Steps to Get Enrolled

Get your career program started by following these six easy steps:

  1. Get consultation:

If you are still in high school, meet with a career counselor at your high school or at one of the technical colleges to discuss your interests, qualifications, and program requirements.

If you are beyond high school (including high school non-completers and GED students) contact your local technical college for help with career planning, brush up, and/or enrollment information.
  2. Choose your area of study.
  3. Apply to one of Wisconsin's 16 technical colleges.
  4. Once you get your letter of acceptance, look into financial aid opportunities.
  5. Sign-up (register) for classes at the college you've chosen using the Course Catalog.
  6. Enjoy your education, get your degree, and begin your new career.

Application vs. Registration

Application
The first step toward career success is applying for admission into one of the 16 Wisconsin technical colleges and submitting a $30 application fee. Once the college has received the application form and the $30 fee, you have begun the process toward an exciting new career. Your future college will guide you toward registration. If you are only interested in taking one course and not interested in enrolling in a particular program or study area (to receive a degree or diploma), you do not need to complete the application process.

Registration
Registration is the process of signing up for particular classes. This process varies, depending on whether you are a new or continuing student in a technical diploma or degree program, or are taking a class at a technical college but not pursing a technical diploma or degree. If you are interested in registering in a class without enrolling in a program or study area, contact the technical college of your choice for a list of classes available.
